Abstract

Introduction. Trichoderma’s biological capacity is very important as a potential biological control agent. They are among the most studied soil fungi and are commercially available as fungicides. Objective. To identify and molecularly characterize an isolate of Trichoderma sp. Materials and methods. Mycelium was isolated from soybean roots at the Phytopathology Laboratory of the National University of the Northwest of the Province of Buenos Aires, Pergamino, Argentina,in 2023. The isolate was analyzed macroscopically. The sequence of Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using the ITS1 and ITS4 primers and sent for sequencing to Macrogen (Korea). Results. Macroscopically, the isolate was green. The amplified ITS sequence showed 99.13% identity with the MH284962 sequence of Trichoderma sp. Conclusion. A Trichoderma sp. isolate was successfully identified and molecularly characterized.
