Respuesta de anticuerpos al Herpesvirus Equino-1 en yeguas con antecedentes de aborto en municipios del Meta, Colombia.

Resumen

El virus Herpes equino tipo 1 (EHV-1) es un virus de amplia difusión mundial, responsable de grandes pérdidas económicas a la industria equina. En Colombia se tiene un escaso conocimiento sobre este virus, lo que obliga a conocer en mayor detalle el comportamiento epidemiológico. El objetivo de este estudio fue relacionar la respuesta serológica al EHV-1 con el aborto en yeguas de seis municipios del Meta.  Se empleó un diseño de casos y controles en 76 yeguas (N=37 casos y N=39 controles), la prueba diagnóstica fue un kit comercial de Elisa indirecta. Se realizó un análisis de frecuencias mediante prueba de independencia de χ2 y los factores asociados se analizaron mediante OR (Odds ratio). El aborto no se asoció con la respuesta serológica (OR=0.70), 58.3% de las yeguas con sobrepeso presentaron aborto, siendo factor asociado. En las yeguas destinadas a la actividad deportiva, la frecuencia de aborto fue mayor (53.8%) que las destinadas a trabajo de campo (11.5%) (p < 0,05). La seropositividad general fue del 48,7%, por municipio Restrepo 62,5% (5/8), Puerto López 62,5% (5/8), Acacias 55,6% (5/9), Cumaral 54,5% (12/22), Villavicencio 45,5% (5/11) y Barranca de Upía 27,8% (5/18). El aborto no se asoció con la presencia de anticuerpos al EHV-1 lo que sugiere otras causas que pueden explicar este cuadro clínico. El virus se encuentra ampliamente difundido en los municipios del Meta, lo que sugiere una presentación endémica y la búsqueda de estrategias de prevención y control.
